When you are traveling with kids I believe you have to settle with a few compromises, so if I really want to go see Old Town, I might have to find something cool along the way so they feel that the trip is worth it.
We went to our little tourist information booth (we actually made friends with them!), my kids started pulling out a bunch of brochures of things that they thought were totally cool…….as you can imagine this was one of them! So we hired a driver (which is cheaper then actually doing a tour, about $50 for the whole day for all of us in a very large van!), first stop was Cosimo’s request the Tiger Kingdom, where you can hang out in the cage with the tigers!
You are probably thinking that I’m a terrible and crazy mother! Maybe a little 🙂! The tigers are born into human care so they are used to people. They do not want to hunt you or to hurt you. The staffs are there to help you as well as to look after the tigers. Their main job is to ensure your safety.
The tigers are handled, stroked and pat every day and so that even the biggest of hands or the roughest of pats does not usually bother them. What can make them react is if you touch them so lightly you feel like a fly. Very gentle touching can feel ticklish and irritating to a sleeping tiger and so it’s best to stroke firmly to avoid being treated like a fly or mosquito.
In the wild the tiger spend most of the day sleeping, They do the same there. That is why they are so relaxed when you go and see them. None of the tigers at Tiger Kingdom are drugged.
We got to go in the cage of the 2 to 4 months old tigers and it was a little scary but also very exciting to have the chance to cuddle to these beautiful and very dangerous animals!
