It is late at night, you are laying next to me, rolling all over the bed. You are moments away from turning one and I am still wondering (just like every parent does) how did this first year go by so fast? Where is my baby? Where is that tiny boy that as soon as was born looked straight at me with his pouty lip and with a slightly desperate expression probably wondering what on earth was going on!
Where are those first couple of months, that also if at my 3rd baby, can still be very challenging? For the lack of sleep, the lack of free time, the lack of a routine. For some time you forget who you are and just feel like a walking cow!
Where are all those first moments of everything? First smile, first laugh, first roll over, first time sitting up, first time falling over, first tooth, first crawl, firs solid food, first steps and first falls?
Where are all those plans that you make while you are pregnant (with this one I’m going to make sure he loves veggies right away!) and then they get taken over by everyday life?
I have been blessed with watching 3 beautiful children grow. I have had the joy experiencing with them all their little and big accomplishments and it is always so exciting! I am in awe by how amazing it is to watch a child grow up, see how he/she learns something new everyday, see how he/she develops his/her personality. I truly realize how important our role as parents is in all this. We are the first to teach them the power of love, the importance of respect, compassion, we help them build their confidence, we are so important for them and for the people they are going to be in this world!
So in celebrating this first year of your precious life, we celebrate the fulfillment you brought to our lives, to our family. You have completed us, made us a whole and strengthened that bond that started from 2 people that fell in love and grew one baby at the time.
We wish you Luca, Cosimo and Emma to always feel this bond between us wether near or far. We wish you to walk through life with your head up high ready to experience every moment in full, live in the present, not in the past or in the future. Live today and be proud of your choices, don’t look back and wonder “what if”. If you didn’t pick that way, why look back and wonder? You probably made the choice that was best for you.Be open to learning, to exploring, there is so much to see in this world and there are no limits to where you can go and what you can do if you believe it. Only fear can limit you, can slow you down, but you would miss out on so much, so embrace your path, follow it, believe in it, make it yours…..
We love you baby Luca, we love you Cosimo, we love you Emma. Our hearts are full of love for you and they are with you wherever you will be…..happy birthday!!!
